Birthing Class

Jake Here- We just just got home from our birthing class/hospital tour and WOW. I think my favorite part of the 8-4 class was Caroline's comment "This is America, surely there's other options to get a baby out then this!" It was quite the graphic and no-nonsense approach to getting Natalie from that cute little bump in the belly to a gooey, squirmy, purple little kid we saw in the movie. One future mom fainted in the class. It was a bit warm but I guess she couldn't handle the X-Rated films. I will say that it was a good experience for us. Its a shame how Hollywood and TV writers have so much influence on how we view real life events. Labor really doesn't look like what it does on TV and it was good for us to see what really goes on in the hours leading up to the actual delivery. The hospital we are planning on delivering at, Memorial Hermann Southeast, was very nice. The employees were nice and the rooms looked good. Certainly not the most luxurious of hospitals, but it was very clean and nice. Its hard to believe we will be back there so soon to do this for real! Well that's a summary of today's events. Now everyone remember to do some deep cleansing breaths and be sure to do some Kegal's!!

Funnest week ever!

What a fun week I've had! Last Friday was my dear friend Azurley's baby shower. The next day was my baby shower and my birthday- all my friends and family made me feel so special and loved! The rest of the weekend I spent time with my sweet girlfriends from high school, Katy, Kim and Regina for our 1st annual girls getaway! What a fun time we had shopping, painting pottery, and enjoying the spa! Monday I had lunch and did MORE shopping with my friends Kim W. and Kami. I wanted to make sure I got in some quality time with Kami before she becomes a mommy! (any day now!) Tuesday and Wednesday I spent wonderful sister time with Katie who helped me organize all those baby clothes I got at my shower! Whew! Thursday I took some elegant maternity photos which I will post as soon as I get them. Jake came with me and we had so much fun spending the day together! Last night we celebrated mine and Rick's (Jake's dad) birthdays with a special dinner and gifts. Today I am taking it easy and am still in my pjs! :) We're looking forward to the weekend- tomorrow is our birthing class and tour of the hospital. I have to say we're looking forward to the latter and bracing ourselves for the class!
Jake and I are enjoying our evenings of putting together baby stuff! The swing in the living room makes it seem more real. There will be a precious girl in there soon! Jake and I seem to get happier and happier each day as we count down the days to our daughter's arrival. We are so thankful to the Lord for the easy and enjoyable pregnancy so far- it has been a joy!

Girls' Weekend at the Houstonian

-Jake Here

Howdy. Thanks Clinton for reminding us to post some pictures of the great furniture previously described. As you can see we have some talented family members who make some nice pieces.

So I think I will chime in on this thing once in a while. Maybe give a little male perspective on this family thing as well as to prove I'm not ALWAYS at work. I lost the battle on the background of this blog so please bear with the not so masculine border as you read my posts. Maybe one day we can switch things up and through in some better color options.
I'm not sure how I want these to look so I'm just going to give this a shot and see where it goes. Alright: Ready....Set...Blog!
...I got nothin, better luck next time.

Nursery

The nursery is really coming together! We had lots of fun putting together the crib and arranging the furniture. Both the dresser and bookshelf are so special to us. The dresser was a project my dad and I worked when I was in high school. I always think of him when I see it. Now it will be Natalie's changing table and dresser. The bookshelf was made by Jake's Grandpa, and we can't wait to fill it with cute baby items!
