TUMS don't cure contractions

So we just got back from our weekly trip to HEB. Jake has had to come with me the past few weeks as it has become quite the chore for me. He hates the grocery store... one of his most despised chores (kind of how I feel about mowing the lawn). But he has had a great attitude about it and has been extremely helpful. As soon as we got there, I started feeling some sharp pains in my stomach. Felt just like indigestion, so Jake went and got me some TUMS. Yeah... TUMS don't cure contractions. (Don't worry, Mom- they were mild and over by the time I got home.) Everyone in HEB seemed to take BIG steps to get out of my way as I came down the aisles. Like I had the plague or something. I love the little toddlers who point to my belly and say, "Look, Mommy! Baby!" The moms look all embarrassed, then quickly move like I'm going into labor any second and they don't want to be in the same aisle as me when it happens. Maybe I should just stay in my house the next 4 weeks so as not to worry the community. :)

Dominoe Rally

Jake Here- Remember Dominoe Rally? That was a fun game but frustrating. I remember Jessica would "accidently" bump the table just as I was trying to get the last few to stand on their ends. Anyway, the first dominoe in our Sunday school class' "Year of the baby" has fallen. Our good friends Andrew and Kami had their daughter Sophia last week which kicks off the rest of the class churning them out and kinda has me thinking the end must be near. If you haven't heard the story, our class had 6 pregnant girls in it. 5 of the six are within 2-3 weeks of another of the preggo's so they all line up one after another. We have 5 weeks to go and in that time 2 other baby's are supposed to be born. So you can't stop the dominoes now, it's happening. 5 weeks is all that stands between the quiet chair I'm currently rocking in listening to a neighbor probably 4 houses down mow their lawn, and a louder house full of new noises and smells. I doubt it will be this quiet again for another 20-30 years. Crazy...

So now for question and answer time. I'm looking for some viewer responses on this one. Just leave your answer in the form of a comment by clicking on the comment link at the end of this post. I'm planning on taking a week off work when Natalie decides to grace us with her presence and I'm not quite sure what I am going to do with all that time. Am I going to get bored since Natalie will sleep so much and moms and moms in laws and sisters and friends are all over to help out? Should I take my vacation time maybe a month or two later when things get a little crazier and Caroline is home alone? I'm not sure. I would certainly feel weird going to work within a day or two of bringing Natalie home since its such a big deal, but really what do I offer in those first few days?? What do you, the reader, think?

Bigger isn't quite better

Well its been a couple of weeks and the tummy Caroline is lugging around has gotten quite a bit bigger. She is 7 weeks from Natalie's due date and I hope there's enough room in there for a couple more pounds. We've had a good past few weeks. Work for me has been pretty crazy but is starting to settle down now. At the moment I am home as we "brace" for Tropical Storm Edouard because the plant has to shut down, so thats a nice break. We had a fun past couple of weekends as well. My cousin Michael got married in Jacksonville and we had a great time at their wedding and reception followed by some good lake time with some of the fam. This past weekend our good friends the Hamiltons invited us to their Galveston beach house. Believe it or not I'm pretty sure that was my first time on Galveston Island. We had a nice time relaxing and enjoying Nick's amazing dinners. Sunday the Brown's had us over for a great steak lunch which we thoroughly enjoyed as well as their company. As you can see we've really planned it perfectly on never cooking but always eating well. Its been a nice time these past weeks as we prepare to lose some of our flexibility and restful moments once we add a third person to our little family. It will certainly change things but somehow I don't think we will really mind. We sure are looking forward to meeting our daughter and I hope she's happy to see us to.
